The first principle of the Agile Manifesto says "Individuals and Interactions over Processes and Tools". Yet most events, including the prestigious ones such as Agile 2016 and Agile Europe 2016 focus mainly on Processes and Tools. So let's ask ourselves: why is that? Is it because after all we value tools and processes a lot as something we simply have to use? Or is it a symptom of "cargo-cult" agile? Or is it because putting individuals and interactions on the top of our list means spending most of our time dealing with people and this is something really really hard without any "best practices" how to do it?
The message of this lightning talk should be: we should be focusing more on people. Their interactions, their happiness, their work together as a team. Processes and tools aren't going to help us. And to focus on people takes: courage, empathy and a great deal of patience.
