How I caused a revolt among my scrummasters by implementing a set of metrics that we'd track over time, and a revolution in how we see the business and the work.
A year ago I started making my 6 full-time scrummasters report on a set of KPIs that would help us get better visibility into our 30 scrum teams.
Scrummasters went wild -- they bombarded me with reasons why this was a terrible idea and how it would ruin self-managing teams.
Instead it gave us unique insights into how teams were dealing with backlog, grooming, work-in-progress, testing, and revealed that some were only borderline agile.
